Welcome to the all new
Lance Harrison site!

Here we hope to introduce you to some of the facets of the man known to many simply as 'Lance'. Musician, songwriter, entertainer, amateur magician, storyteller, prankster, traveller and more!

With his wife Donna, he has journeyed to more than thirty countries exploring their musical landscapes as well as the "Terra firma". Music and art are the driving forces in his life, and always have been. Nobody can remember a time that Lance didn't make music. It's just him. It's what he does.

Of the CD's that are available there are twenty-six (26) original songs. There are a lot more in line to be recorded and new songs are coming to him all the time so stay tuned. Although he has been concentrating mainly in a blues direction the many different flavors of his tastes are evident to those who listen. Click the "Music" menu above for a player window that streams about a minute of each of the songs.

The NEW site is up and online!

Although I'm still shaking the bugs out, the new site is up and running! And not a minute too soon! Lots of little details to iron out, but mostly it works. The tour dates page is one of the minor problems but the good folks at Hostbaby will surely have some answers for me. Right now its late and I'm going to get some rest before I tackle the minor stuff in the morning.
The Lance Harrison Band will be playing a Stadtfest this weekend and trying out some of the new songs. Its good to be back and playing with the guys.

Back and refreshed, change is happening

Back from our honeymoon (not that its over!) I have a pocket full of new songs which the band is excitedly learning.  We will unveil some of them on the upcoming summer festivals.  Also big in the news, Donna has decided to retire from the stage to enjoy her love of photography.  She says she may still play occasionally by special request.  So, I am developing 'Lance Harrison' more as a solo as well as with the band.  There may also be some other side projects (R&R) which spring up from time to time, we'll see.  So a new, more simplified website is in the works to reflect all the different sides that make up... Lance.

LANCE & DONNA GET MARRIED!!

Yep, it finally happened! After an 18 year engagement we finally "tied the knot" and "got hitched"! It was a lovely little ceremony presided over by Rick Spence in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and witnessed by a very few close friends and some family. Sorry to all the folks that may have wanted to attend, but it was impossible to manage in Europe. Afterwards, we went to Lance's daughter's house out in the countryside and ate 'pulled pork bar-b-que' and had a jam with Ron and Bill of the "Jake Leg Stompers". Barbara whooped it up on the 5¢ Pepsi can bass and we all had a great time!! Pictures of the event will soon be posted on our MySpace site. People asked why we got married after so many years... Our responses were ... (a) Donna's pregnant, (b) We needed a toaster, (c) We love each other! Thanks to the many people that have contacted us with congratulatory messages.

Synopsis of Asia '07 - '08

We just got back from 3 1/2 months in Thailand and Laos.
With Germany being so cold, and gigs get slim over the winter months,
we decided we could be warm and experience something else other than Europe.
Last year we did the same time in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
Each were truely amazing adventures, with a total of over 8,500 photos!
Thanks to our ability to download to our G4 which we brought along.
This year we said, "where did we enjoy ourselves most?... Don Det, Laos!"
So, we traveled 1 month with some French friends through E. Thailand (Issan) & into Laos.
They were inexperienced at free travel (without a tour), but we taught them.
This year, at the beginning of the trip, the G4 logic board of our computer died. (it's been more of a lemon than an apple!)
So, not as many photos, and no working via emails, which made us take a real vacation.
We waved goodbye to our friends and stayed another 2 months on Don Det, an island in the Mekong river near the Cambodian boarder.
Only generator powered from dark til about 10 PM, lots of hammock time, and ridiculously cheap.
And the family there.... we really got involved and were family together.
A lovely, wonderful, gentle people.
They involved us into real life events like the new baby, whose birth we missed by a week.
The funeral of the grandfather of our 11 year old friend, Ko.
Where they cremated him in the rice fields after a Buddhist ceremony.
A goat roast with many of the families from bringing it in... to washing the dishes.
For all of these events... we were the only "Farang" invited!!
We also helped them open their restaurant back up, just some elbow grease and painting some signs.
We realized Kham Pau & Ko both needed some dental work (they were in pain all the time) and got them in to the clinic 4 hours away.
Lao style, in the more rustic areas, is just pull them out if they're troublesome.
Ko had never been away from the islands to the big city.
So many adventures!
They threw a huge party and another goat roast for us when we left, and begged us not to go.
You stay here, just live with us, no problem. Sometimes we
wonder...
