Welcome !
Here we hope to introduce you to some of the facets of the man known to many simply as 'Lance'. Musician, songwriter, entertainer, amateur magician, storyteller, prankster, traveller and more!
With his wife Donna, he has journeyed to more than thirty countries exploring their musical landscapes as well as the "Terra firma". Music and art are the driving forces in his life, and always have been. Nobody can remember a time that Lance didn't make music. It's just him. It's what he does.
Of the CD's that are available there are twenty-six (26) original songs. There are a lot more in line to be recorded and new songs are coming to him all the time so stay tuned. Although he has been concentrating mainly in a blues direction the many different flavors of his tastes are evident to those who listen. Lance & Donna leave Europe!
With the economy being so bad, festivals receiving less financial assistance, clubs that prefer 'cover' bands over original music or become 'pay to play' venues... and then there are the weekend warriors that play for very little or free... and on top of that... I'm a really terrible agent for myself, we've decided to leave Europe and continue our original adventure of traveling. That is what we were doing before we were 'discovered'. This last year we finally made it all the way around the world, for the first time! The 'Lance & Donna story' is a long and wonderful 'adventure of passion and destiny' and maybe now we'll have time to finish 'the book'.
We consider ourselves to be very lucky! We have lived a dream that few ever manage to realize. We have lived on nothing but our music for fifteen years! We have met, played with and hung out with some truly legendary musicians, artists and personalities some famous and some not... yet. We have performed in front of so many people that we could not see the end of the cheering crowd and we've played for small groups of people that were mesmerized by every note. People. The people that we met and became friends with along the way, this is the best part of our travels in Europe. People like you! We've seen people meet and fall in love at our shows. We've watched children grow up and go on to become (honest to goodness) 'rocket scientists' while others have even been inspired to make their own life in music. We've inspired and been inspired! How wonderful is that? We've had a lot of helping hands along our way over the years in Europe, and we thank them all, both the angels and the demons.
And we're not necessarily gone forever...
The Lance Harrison Band is a tight band and has been a great experience teaching me many things about myself and how I communicate. It was great to get the music in my head out so it could be listened to by everyone else! I feel lucky to have made music with these wonderful musicians. They've certainly enjoyed realizing and performing my music as much as I have. I know that if someone arranged a tour for us, they would be ready to go.
Artistically, I am quite happy with the CD's we've made. Downloads of these CD's will, of course, continue to be available from most online outlets such as iTunes, Rhapsody, CDBaby, etc., and have been selling fairly well. This 'leaving Europe' does NOT mean that the music is finished! No, I continue to write, record and make available for download or limited pressing the music as it is finished. In fact I have just released another instrumental Rock/Funk/Jazz album under a sudonym as an experiment. Plus, I have a whole slew of new songs I'm working on and ideas for videos and NOW we will have the time to work on these creative works. Plus there are humanitarian projects we've initiated that need a little attention. Who knows what the future holds? We might as well travel into it and find out!
We will be playing some final shows more locally until we're gone. Basically... stay tuned.
